Milwaukee Bike Polo Club

Three of Milwaukee’s finest traveled to Louisville this last weekend to take part in some of the shenanigans that surround the Kentucky Derby.

For those of who don’t know the Derby isn’t just big hats and big bets, Louisville erupts in a giant party that lasts the entire weekend. Friday night consisted of a 3am arrival to a shady parking garage where people were still playing pick up. I think there were more beers consumed then hours of sleep.

Saturday we had a derby breakfast and did what we came to do, party and play bike polo. Bourbon bourbon bourbon! The locals decided to make the finals interesting by installing paper mache horses on our bikes when we weren’t looking. There was also some sort of reverse joust to start the game. (viva los marcos)

First off thanks so much to Lacy DC and the Brew City Bruisers Roller Derby for having us at your hafltime show!

Our apologies for any mix up to the Beerleaders, will you come perform at our tournament in June?

It was pretty cool to play polo in front of that many people, and the general consensus after talking to the fans in the stands after the performance was “wow that’s cool” or “I’ve never seen that, it was rad!”

Hopefully we opened some new eyes to the sport and made a few new fans!

This court is SICK! surface is smooth and just the right size. Great play off the boards. Shade trees just outside the fence. Room to expand and add 2nd, 3rd , or 4th court. future possible tournament location…..

Located at Washington Park on Milwaukee’s westside, at 41st/W Washignton Blvd and Vliet St, 3 miles west of downtown Milwaukee. This park was designed by Frederick law Olmsted, the same guy who did Central Park in NYC and is really a huge great park with a pool, lagoon, and the world class Urban Ecology Center all within the park.

All proceeds go to help the 11 arrested players pay any fines as well as help the club pay for facilities costs for a sanctioned polo court.
