January 2nd, 2011    Madison,Wisconsin

I woke up early on Sunday at Ben Hunter’s to Dillman yanking the sleeping bags I had made into a bed out from under me then an hour later the next generation came clamoring down the stairs. I told them to jump on Joe and Brian to wake them up. That continued for about 10 minutes until they got their lazy asses up.  Ben and Grace then made us some breakfast and coffee and we were out the door to the warehouse.

Despite the pretty big sized cracks and dangerous things coming out from the wall there wasn’t much to complain about. We were playing polo inside in January with our oldest friends and rivals. It was a round robin style mini season with no finals bracket.  A game was two halves, 20 minutes each. Just each team playing each team once, better record wins. I’m not sure what would have happened in the case of a tied record, but it didn’t matter, MKE crew went undefeated.

Final scores

Chicago 21- Madison 12

Milwaukee 22- Minneapolis 8

Madison 11 – Minneapolis 10

Milwaukee 12- Chicago 11

Chicago 17 – Minneapolis 7 (please confirm this)

Final records

MKE 3-0

CHI 2-1

MAD 1-2

MPLS+ 0-3

Overall this was just a ton of fun and I couldnt have asked for a better way to start off the New Year!

Make sure to check out Dane’s photos if you scroll down the blog page. You’re wondering why there aren’t any of MKE in action, aren’t you? It’s cuz Dane was on the court slaying! What you can’t see in my hand in the window is an airhorn that Joe had brought and made the mistake of letting me hold while he napped

Caught ya sleeping bro!

MKE heading to NYC for Bench Minor Tournament

Hopefully Dillman has recovered from this nut shot enough to compete in this weekend’s Bench Minor Tournament in the Big Apple!
5 teams of 12 players each, comprised of all stars from across North America, will converge to play a more hockey style game with line changes, penalty box, and scoop shots counting as goals at The Pit.

Our hometown A list will be attending but are split up between the teams so all allegiances will be forgotten, past teammate comradery broken down, and a struggle to the top will ensue.

Will report back with results next week!
