We had some great weather for polo this weekend, even if it did rain both days.

For any others who are coming into MKE this week seems like there will be polo played everyday up until we leave for Madison….so get pyched to play on our awesome solid as F*CK court at Washington Park.  Call or email any MKE bike polo player for directions but just incase…. the court is located at 41st and Vliet St. about 3 miles directly west of downtown.

jake@mkebikepolo.com is a good place to start if your coming into town and need some assistance on directions.

For the second year in a row Milwaukee Bike Polo Club’s Beaver Boys Placed 2nd at the East Side Polo Invite.  This years was in New York City over the last weekend in June.  It was a scorcher that weekend in the 90s and it really was summertime in the city, back of your neck getting dirty and gritty.

ESPI5 tried out some new rules and formats which were hit and miss.  Glad they gave it a go, but would liked a double elimination (since my team consisting of exMKEan Crandal and his PDX teammate Drew lost in the single elim round).

Big ups to the ladies as well, who attended the Ladies Army 2, a women only tournament that fielded women from across the continent. SPECIAL PROPS to MKE’s own Birdie Watts for getting MVP honors and MKE’s ex-player Tina Medley now residing in Austin, TX for MVP runner up!!(pictured is Birdie in her uniform, with Chandel from NYC bike polo, photo by Kev Walsh)

I’ve been home from NYC for a mere 2 days & I miss it already. I did so much, there is so much that could be said but there’s really no need to get romantic about it. Anyone who has been to the city knows how amazing it can be. My favorite part about the trip was that I managed to spend at least some time on a roof top every night, this photo is from Katie’s house looking at the Williams burg bridge a good night on a roof but not the best one.

This event has been saved from extinction by you local bicycling groups Milwaukee Bike Polo, Pedal Pusher Society, COG magazine, and The City of Milwaukee.

SHOW UP THIS FRIDAY June 18th  for a screening of RAD! the 1986 cult classic BMX movie.

This court is SICK! surface is smooth and just the right size. Great play off the boards. Shade trees just outside the fence. Room to expand and add 2nd, 3rd , or 4th court. future possible tournament location…..

Located at Washington Park on Milwaukee’s westside, at 41st/W Washignton Blvd and Vliet St, 3 miles west of downtown Milwaukee. This park was designed by Frederick law Olmsted, the same guy who did Central Park in NYC and is really a huge great park with a pool, lagoon, and the world class Urban Ecology Center all within the park.

Find us here Sundays at 2pm till sunset.  Weekday schedule, rookie nights coming soon.

We welcome new players as well as spectators.  Come and enjoy a  day in the park and spectate some world class bike polo!!!

CONGRATULATIONS
Beaver Boys place 1st out of 44 teams at the 8th Midwest Hardcourt Bike Polo Championships. Joe Burge, Brian Dillman, and Eric Kremin (in photo) slayed the game going undefeated the whole weekend.

Much love and thanks to MPLS Bike Polo Inc. for throwing a great tournament. Your local weatherman should be fired though. Huge love to the Dillman family for hosting a bunch of drunk idiots from Milwaukee. I’m still craving a sloppy joe from Brian’s mom, and Pat, I’ll get your PBR workshirt in the mail.

Thanks again to Armahn for helping me with all the court lumber and loading up a uhaul to the brim in 90 degree and humid monday. Armahn continue to kill the support game and loves to have fun

Also big props to Matt Hewwit, Boom, and Atwell for tying in 5th place and Space Dokken(Jake, Guthrie, Lief) placing 9th.

Our dearest friend Chombo was involved in an accident a few days ago. “I woke up on the pavement, spitting out teeth and blood after clearly being unconscious for an undetermined period of time….I think I may have been sideswiped by a delivery car. I woke up alone and injured….poured peroxide on my face….I found my teeth on the ground just by simply following the blood trail….p.s. I had a helmet on!” – Chombo

Chombo has no insurance and no one to sue that pants off to pay for his new grill. Please please donate some money to our injured friend, so that he may eat corn off the cob and slay goals around the world!
